RRPD: One arrested in shooting involving officer in Round Rock
AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 34-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting involving an officer that happened earlier this week in Round Rock, according to the Round Rock Police Department.
That man was identified as Alexander Tolentino, of Round Rock, according to police.
RRPD said on social media that on 4 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at the MAA apartment complex, 1800 Plateau Vista Blvd, according to police.
“A 9-1-1 caller reported hearing an argument between a male and female in a nearby apartment and believed a firearm was involved after hearing the female pleading in fear for her life,” police said.
When officers arrived, they “made contact with the suspect, who brandished a firearm.” Police said one officer “discharged his weapon,” and no one was hurt. That suspect was later identified as Tolentino. He was arrested and taken to the Williamson County Jail and booked on “charges of assault family violence,” police said.
Police identified RRPD Officer Mason Gates as the officer who discharged his weapon. He is a one-year veteran with the department and was placed on administrative leave, according to police.
