APD identifies woman connected to homicide near north Austin encampment
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department identified the woman in connection with a homicide that happened last week near an encampment in north Austin, per a news release from the agency.
That woman was identified as 20-year-old Gabrielle Williams, according to police.
On April 25, around 11:30 p.m., Austin 911 received multiple calls reporting a shooting that happened in the woods behind 506 E. Rundberg Lane.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a woman unresponsive, who was later identified as Williams, with “apparent gunshot wounds on the sidewalk in front of the car wash,” according to police.
Police said Williams’ boyfriend carried her from the camp to the location in front of the car wash for assistance, the release said. According to police, Williams was by her tent in the woods with her boyfriend and was “shot several times by a suspect” who fled the area.
This is now being investigated as Austin’s 20th homicide of 2025, according to police.
Anyone with any information on the homicide can contact APD at 512-974-TIPS or by submitting an anonymous tip via the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program website. Police said a reward up to $1,000 may also be available for any information leading to an arrest.
No other details were released Monday.
