1 dead at southeast Austin gas station, APD investigating as homicide
AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person is dead after a reported homicide that happened at a southeast Austin gas station Thursday, Austin Police Department Public Information Officer Austin Zarling said during a media briefing.
Around 7 p.m., officers responded to the Shell Gas station, 2001 E. Riverside Drive, in reference to a shoot/stab hotshot call, Zarling said.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 30 to 40-year-old Hispanic man with “apparent trauma to the body.” Zarling said officers provided life-saving measures until Austin-Travis County EMS medics and the Austin Fire Department took over measures.

Zarling said a person of interest was cooperating with investigators, and there was no threat to the public.
This is now being investigated as Austin’s 22nd homicide of 2025, according to police.
If anyone has any information on the homicide, they are asked to contact APD at 512-477-3588 or contact Austin Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS.
