Man charged in fatal hit-and-run in north Austin
AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was formally charged Thursday following a December 2024 fatal crash.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, 29-year-old Eduardo Pimentel Almanza was charged with collision involving death—a second-degree felony.
The charge was related to the death of 68-year-old Terry Campo, who died Jan. 24 following a Dec. 30 hit-and-run in north Austin.
As of Friday, Travis County court records showed Almanza’s arrest warrant remained active, and he was still wanted in connection with the felony charge.
According to Almanza’s arrest warrant, investigators connected him to the hit-and-run using a dash camera in a witness’ vehicle and items found inside the suspect vehicle.
“The search warrant on the suspect vehicle showed clothing, personal items, receipts, insurance and the wallet belonging to [Almanza] … as well as [Almanza’s] cell phone,” the affidavit said.
According to court documents, Almanza also appeared to have the same physical descriptors as the suspect seen on the dash video, where the suspect was seen “running away from dying victims.”
