After hiatus Violet Crown Fest is back!

AUSTIN (KXAN)– It was a party in Brentwood Neighborhood Park on Saturday for the 21st Violet Crown Festival.

David Ezrailson, who helped organize the event, said this was the first year back after taking a few years off.

“We took a 5 year hiatus because of COVID,” said Ezrailson.

The festival draws in people living in the Brentwood and Crestwood neighborhoods, as well as people from across Austin.

“It just feels great to see everyone together enjoying themselves,” said Ezrailson. “Dale Watson is playing right now in the background and there is an incredible crowd.”

Festival goers were treated to dozens of vendors selling all kinds of items, ranging from clothes and jewelry to wind chimes and much more.

The event also had many food trucks and even an amateur barbecue competition.

“This year to bring it back we decided to do an amateur barbecue brisket cookoff which we had never done before and frankly it went amazing,” said Ezrailson.

The day was also filled with live music with musicians like Dale Watson stopping by.
