APD looking for suspect in I-35 road rage incident
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is asking for help identifying a suspect who was allegedly involved in a road rage incident on Interstate 35 in April.
According to APD, the suspect is wanted in a “criminal mischief case” that stemmed from a road rage incident on April 21 around 5:36 p.m. The incident happened in the 5900 block of I-35, near the 51st Street/Cameron Road exit (237B).
Police said the suspect stopped in a travel lane, got out of his vehicle and hit the victim’s vehicle, causing several thousand dollars worth of damage. He also attempted to open a door on the victim’s vehicle, police added.
APD provided the following description of a suspect:
- Hispanic man
- Around 40 years old
- Thin build
- Bald or shaved head
- “May frequent the north Austin area”
The suspect’s vehicle is a green 2002 GMC Envoy with a large crack in the front windshield and hail damage all over its body. It also has a Houston Texans trailer hitch cover, and there was a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action cap on the dashboard at the time of the incident.
