US: Wall St opens lower on fresh tariff threats

[NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Tuesday, after US President Donald Trump’s latest plans for pharma tariffs further dampened investor sentiment amid subdued corporate earnings.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 218.6 points, or 0.53 per cent, at the open to 41,000.19.

The S&P 500 fell 44.5 points, or 0.79 per cent, at the open to 5,605.87​, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 221.0 points, or 1.24 per cent, to 17,623.209 at the opening bell. REUTERS
