LIVE BLOG: Severe weather, tornado threat in Central Texas


AUSTIN (KXAN) — Severe weather is possible across Central Texas Tuesday. A Tornado Watch is in effect for most of the area until 4 p.m.

Large hail, strong winds and isolated tornadoes are all possible. Most of Central Texas is under a slight risk (level 2 of 5) of severe weather, while locations northeast of Austin are under an enhanced risk (level 3 of 5).

9:08 a.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for northwest Travis County and northwest Williamson County until 10 a.m. Quarter-size hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible.

8:30 a.m.: Marble Falls ISD says all campuses are sheltering in place due to severe weather. “Our emergency procedures are active and all students and staff are safe indoors. We are closely monitoring conditions and will provide updates as soon as it is safe to resume normal activities,” the district said.

8:25 a.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for northeast Blanco County, central Burnet County, northwest Travis County and northwest Williamson County until 9:15 a.m. Golf ball-size hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible.

8:14 a.m.: A Tornado Watch was issued for most of Central Texas until 4 p.m.

7:50 a.m.: A Tornado Warning was issued for parts of Blanco, Burnet and Llano counties until 8:30 a.m.

7:13 a.m.: A Tornado Warning was issued for parts of Blanco and Gillespie counties until 8 a.m.

6:52 a.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for parts of Blanco and Gillespie counties until 8 a.m.

5:58 a.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for part of Gillespie County until 7 a.m.
