Global Constellation Boards Sales On Paris-Set Queer Animation ‘Jim Queen’

EXCLUSIVE: Global Constellation has boarded sales on adult animated feature Jim Queen, directed by Marco Nguyen and Nicolas Athané and produced by on-trend adolescent and adult animation studio Bobbypills.

Currently in production and set for delivery in the first half of 2026, the film is billed as a wild, satirical ride through identity, fame, and queer culture in crisis.

The official synopsis reads: “In the heart of Paris’s gay scene, Jim reigns supreme: the ultimate Gym Queen, influencer, and object of universal thirst. But when a bizarre virus called Heterosis starts turning gay men straight, his reign ends overnight. Unfollowed, abandoned, and stripped of status, Jim is left with just one unlikely ally: Lucien, a devoted scrawny twink with more loyalty than clout. Together, they plunge into the queer chaos of the Marais, chasing a rogue doctor rumored to have a cure.

The screenplay is co-written by Simon Balteaux and Brice Chevillard.

The animated picture is produced by David Alric and Arthur Delabays at Paris-based Bobbypills. Founded in 2019, the cutting-edge adult and young adult-skewed animation studios recently produced James Gunn’s Creature Commandos, the first television series and first official chapter of the DC Universe, DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation.

Its credits also include Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, produced with Ubisoft Film & Television for Netflix, as well as the adult animated series Crisis Jung and Vermin, both now streaming on Netflix.

Directors Nguyen and Athané, who are both alumni of France’s respected Gobelins animation school, bring extensive experience across animated features, series, and games. Their key feature credits include working on The Summit of the Gods, Ernest & Celestine, The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales, The Swallows of Kabul, The Rabbi’s Cat, and The Red Turtle.

“At the heart of Jim Queen lies a powerful, universal message. One of acceptance, care, and resistance. It’s a story about what it means to be queer in a big city, about embracing your true self, and about love, fun, and friendship. The kind of story we need more of. Queer storytelling is thriving, and yet the force of Jim Queen is its ability to transcend queerness — to move, entertain, and resonate with everyone, no matter who they are,” said the co-directors.

The film is co-produced by Umedia (The Count of Monte Cristo, The Night of the Zoocalypse), with the support of Eurimages (Council of Europe), Avance sur recettes (CNC), la région Nouvelle Aquitaine, le département de la Charente, la région Réunion, and will be distributed in France by The Jokers Films.

Jim Queen is a full-throttle, no-holds-barred exploration of queerness in the digital age. It’s hilarious, subversive, stylish, and underneath it all, it’s a deeply moving story about identity, resilience, and longing for connection. We are thrilled to bring this electrifying film to distributors around the world,” said Global Constellation Managing Director Fabien Westerhoff.
