Vintage motorcycle ride in Austin puts spotlight on men's health
AUSTIN (KXAN) — You might have noticed a large group of classic and vintage motorcycles making their way around Austin Sunday morning.
It was all part of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, which is an event to raise funds and awareness about men’s health, specifically mental health and prostate cancer.
“We know that the overwhelming number of riders are male and in the past there wasn’t an organization that directly helped them navigate health and mental health,” said Moira Zinn, the host for the Austin event.
This year about 200 riders signed up to participate in the annual event, which is held all across the nation and the world.
The original goal was to raise around $25,000, but event organizer in Austin said they got up to about $35,000 the day of the event.
Fundraising will continue for a few more weeks and you can donate on the events website.
After riding around Austin the group pulled into Central Machine Works Brewery in East Austin to show off their vintage and classic motorcycles and of course their dapper outfits.
