Texas to host NCAA baseball regional for first time since 2022, entire field announced Monday

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Longhorns will officially host a regional in the opening round of the NCAA baseball tournament.

The NCAA released the 16 regional sites Sunday, and the Longhorns are the only program in the Lone Star State to host. The NCAA will announce the entire field of 64 teams and regional groupings at 11 a.m. CDT Monday. All teams hosting regional tournaments are national seeds, and the order will be announced with the field tomorrow. The top eight national seeds will host super regionals if they make it through the regional round.

Texas is one of eight Southeastern Conference schools to host regionals. The last time the Longhorns hosted was in 2022, taking on an Air Force team led by Pittsburgh Pirates ace pitcher Paul Skenes, along with Louisiana Tech and Dallas Baptist. It’s the 64th time in program history that they’ve made the tournament field. Texas is 155-59-1 (.723) all-time in regional games, including an 87-22 (.798) mark in Austin.
