Amy's Ice Creams invites community to celebrate 40th anniversary

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Amy’s Ice Creams invites the community to celebrate its 40th anniversary on Sunday, June 8, at Bouldin Acres South Lamar.

The first-ever Amy’s Fest will happen from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the event will be a free, dog-friendly, community celebration benefiting nonprofit Emancipet, according to a press release.

Emancipet is a local nonprofit that ensures every pet owner has access to affordable veterinary care.

“Amy’s was never just about ice cream—it was about connection,” Amy’s Ice Creams Giving Director Jess Banks said.

Banks added Amy’s Fest is a “love letter to Austin—a thank you for 40 incredible years.”

The festival will also bring back one of its most legendary traditions: the Trick Olympics.

“Expect high-flying scoops, crowd judged chaos and the kind of joyful mess that only Amy’s could create,” the release shared.

Banks said Amy’s scoopers are “performers, athletes and artists.” “For years they’ve turned a simple scoop into something magical—and we’re letting that fly again (literally) for our 40th.”

Amy’s Ice Creams was established in 1984 in Austin by Amy Simmons. The iconic ice cream store now has locations in Austin, Houston and San Antonio.
