Texas women's hoops to play LSU twice in SEC regular season

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas women’s basketball team will get a double dose of Kim Mulkey’s squad in the regular season this season.

The Southeastern Conference revealed the Longhorns’ opponents and sites for the upcoming 16-game conference schedule, and the only team Texas plays twice is Louisiana State. Last season, Texas split the regular season series with South Carolina as the lone home-and-home series. The Longhorns then lost to the Gamecocks in the conference tournament title game and then in the Final Four.

Texas will host Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, along with the Tigers. The Longhorns will hit the road to play Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee and Vanderbilt in addition to LSU. Specific dates, tip-off times and broadcast information for the games will be announced later.

In nonconference action, Texas will host North Carolina for the ACC/SEC Challenge on Dec. 4. It will be the first time the programs have played each other since 1981.

Texas finished 15-1 in SEC play last season and didn’t lose a game at home. The Longhorns made it to their first Final Four in 22 years last season and set a school record with 35 wins.
