Detectives investigate overnight homicide in southeast Austin
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said it was investigating a homicide after a man was found with “obvious trauma” outside of a gas station in southeast Austin overnight.
According to police, a person passing by called 911 to report the victim at approximately 12:35 a.m. near the 2100 block of Wickersham Lane.
APD said officers responded as well as Austin-Travis County EMS. Medics performed life-saving measures, and the victim was taken to the hospital. APD said the victim was pronounced dead around 1 a.m.
According to APD, the victim was a Hispanic man between 20 and 30 years old. No other identifying information was provided.
APD said homicide and crime scene detectives were at the scene gathering information and trying to put the pieces together.
According to police, this incident is being investigated as Austin’s 30th homicide of 2025.
