Texas Longhorns add Wake Forest left-handed pitcher via transfer portal

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas grabbed another arm out of the transfer portal, securing the commitment of left-hander Haiden Leffew from Wake Forest on Thursday.

Leffew posted about his commitment on X, and he’ll have two years of eligibility left.

In two seasons with the Demon Deacons, Leffew appeared in 47 games with five starts, accumulating a 5.30 ERA with 97 strikeouts in 69.2 innings pitched. He walked his fair share of hitters, issuing 45 free passes with nine hit batsmen, but he picked up seven wins and four saves.

Leffew lowered his ERA significantly from his freshman to his sophomore season in Winston-Salem, going from 6.11 to 4.46. He was used solely as a reliever and helped Wake Forest to a 39-22 record and a regional appearance this season.

Leffew is the second left-handed pitcher the Longhorns have picked up in the transfer portal this offseason. Luke Dotson of Mississippi State is the other.

Texas also added a junior college transfer, catcher Andrew Ermis from Temple College, on Wednesday. He hit .338 with 10 home runs and 41 RBIs in 50 games for the Leopards this season.
