APD searching for possible suspects after victim allegedly assaulted at south Austin homeless encampment
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is searching for any possible suspects who may be known to frequent a homeless encampment in south Austin after a report of an aggravated assault that happened earlier this month.
The alleged assault happened on June 3 the homeless encampment, located in the 1000 block of West Ben White Boulevard, according to an APD news release.
Officers were called to Saint David’s South Austin Hospital around 8:30 p.m. for a report of an assault victim who was brought to the hospital. Police said the “victim had significant life-threatening injuries.”
According to witnesses, they found the victim in the homeless encampment and then “escorted” them hospital and were “unsure of how, or when, the victim was assault.”
Investigators responded to the scene and gathered that possibly one or more suspects “may frequent the area” of the homeless encampment, according to police.
