TJ Watt ends Steelers contract drama with record-breaking $123 million deal

T.J, Watt is now the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

The Steelers’ star linebacker agreed to a three-year, $123 million contract extension with Pittsburgh on Thursday, according to multiple reports.

The deal includes Watt being fully guaranteed $108 million at signing and the AAV of $41 million makes it the highest deal for any non-QB position player in NFL history, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

The deal ends the uncertainty surrounding Watt with the season inching closer, and will make teammate Cam Heyward happy after he joked during a media appearance this week that he would tell general manager Omar Khan “that’s not happening” if the Steelers thought of trading Watt.

The Steelers, who now have Aaron Rodgers at quarterback after a headline-grabbing offseason, begin training camp on July 24.
