Verve Signs ‘Reservoir Dogs,’ ‘Legally Blonde’ Prequel Series Scribe Chad Charlie

EXCLUSIVE: Verve has signed award-winning Afro-Indigenous writer, filmmaker, and comedian Chad Charlie for representation.

Known for focusing on Indigenous joy and underrepresented stories, Charlie was a writer on FX’s Emmy-nominated series Reservation Dogs and has since worked as a writer on Prime Video’s upcoming Legally Blonde prequel comedy series Elle from Hello Sunshine. Currently, he’s also serving as executive producer and writer on Running Smoke, a docuseries in production with CBC.

A native of Seattle, Washington, Charlie began his career in stand-up comedy and spoken word before expanding into film and television. His short films Firecracker Bullets and Uuʔuu~tah explore themes of identity, cultural preservation, and resilience, and have screened at festivals internationally. A Film Independent Amplifier Fellow, Charlie has also been selected for the Sundance Episodic Lab and imagineNATIVE Directors Lab.

In a statement to Deadline, Charlie said, “I signed with Verve because they lead with integrity and believe in the power of authentic storytelling. From day one, they understood my voice, my values, and the kind of stories I want to tell — not just for the moment, but for the long run. This partnership feels like the right home to build something lasting.”

Charlie continues to be represented by 3 Arts with managers Luke Maxwell and Jonathan Berry, and lawyers Ben Jenkins and Bianca Levin at Gang, Tyre, Ramer.
