Jeff Daniels Says Donald Trump Is “Everything That’s Wrong” With Us & Hopes His Supporters Are “Losing Tons Of Money”

Jeff Daniels has never been shy about expressing his political views and is giving his take on Donald Trump‘s America and everything the U.S. has lost as a country.

During an appearance on Nicolle Wallace‘s The Best People podcast, the Newsroom actor assessed the repercussions of having Trump in the White House.

“We’ve lost decency, we’ve lost civility, we’ve lost respect for the rule of law — lost it,” he said. “We have normalized verbal abuse on the internet. We’ve normalized bullying; much as the woke generation tried to, you know, change that, it’s back.”

He continued, “I mean, nobody has great things to say about politicians. They never have. Go back to Mark Twain. But ideally, we’re supposed to elect the best of us. Not the worst of us. He’s everything that’s wrong with not just America but with being a human being.”

Daniels says he ponders what a Kamala Harris presidency would’ve looked like and notes that “she would’ve been a good choice,” adding, “I don’t care what they say. Because she would have done what [former President Abraham] Lincoln did.”

The Dumb and Dumber actor said that Lincoln “surrounded himself with the people who would disagree with him, not the people who would take a knee and go, ‘Yeah, more tariffs, sir, more.’ It’s madness of King George and just the deterioration of the Republican Party.”

Daniels also had some words for those citizens who voted and supported Trump’s reelection into the White House, saying, “I hope you’re losing tons of money, those of you who thought this would be OK. My question is, what are you guys going to do about it?”

When Wallace noted that Trump’s policies were going to hurt his base, Daniels added, “I think, at the end of the day, that’s what’s going to do it. ‘Wait a minute, the grocery bill is what? $180 more? I can’t get that car that we have to have unless I pay another $8,000. What? Who do I blame for that? Who do I see about that?’ One person.”

Daniels said Trump was a “snakes oil salesman,” and added, “At the end of the day it would be about just the price of eggs, did it go up or down, because that’s what he told me he was going to lower the price of eggs or my grocery bill.”
