‘Wicked: One Wonderful Night’ Encore To Air New Year’s Eve On NBC

NBC is bringing back Wicked: One Wonderful Night for a special encore presentation on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31 at 8 pm ET/PT.

The special, which initially aired Nov. 6, drew 3.6M viewers across platforms after three days, per Nielsen, making it the network’s second best special of the year, coming in behind only February’s SNL50: The Anniversary Special.

Filmed at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the two-hour special is led by Wicked: For Good stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who perform alongside co-stars Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang and Marissa Bode.

The special also includes an emotional reunion with Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Erivo and Grande in a performance of “For Good”, from the Gershwin Theatre in New York City, the location of the original Broadway Wicked show.

Wicked: One Wonderful Night will be followed at 10 PM ET/PT by local news. A Toast to 2026! two-hour special airs from at 10:30 PM ET/PT-12:30 AM ET/PT. The retrospective special will look back at the most fun and funny pop culture moments of the year, including special guests Ethan Slater, Jim Gaffigan, Tiffany Haddish, Bobby Moynihan, David Alan Grier and more.

Snoop Dogg’s New Year’s Eve special was originally slated to air live on NBC on New Year’s Eve at 10:30 pm ET/PT, but it was canceled last month due to Snoop Dogg’s commitment to be on duty for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics. “Sometimes the calendar gets in the way of the celebration,” Snoop Dog said at the time.

Since its release on Nov. 21, Wicked: For Good has earned almost $400 million at the global box office.

Wicked: One Wonderful Night is produced by Fulwell Entertainment. Ben Winston and Raj Kapoor executive produce.
