Why is there so much indignation about Conservative MPs changing to Liberals? In terms of policy and rhetoric, the Liberal party of Canada is the Conservative party. Your candidate is just as conservative, but now their colors are red instead of blue. Why do you expect conservative MPs to hitch their wagons to a Twitter troll who blew a 20-point lead instead of joining a party that can actually win an election and write policy?

Out of touch
Yancy Jones’ letter on the 16th (‘Minimum wage nonsense’) was extremely out of touch and dripping with entitlement. What makes you think you deserve cheap fast food while demanding the people who prepare it for you should be paid so little that they can’t afford to live? Or that the labour should be done by ‘children living with their parents?’ Do you expect all fast food joints to be closed during school hours? Do you see mostly children behind the counter? Would you accept less than minimum wage for your work?

Go away, APP
The APP claims to have 240,000 members. Meanwhile, the Forever Canadian petition collected 456,365 signatures. Clearly, intelligent Albertans reject the notion of independence. So Alberta Prosperity Project, take your foolish petition and go away!

Not so fast
(Re: ‘Bell – Numbers in! Alberta a big step closer to 120 km/h speed limit on divided highways,’ calgarysun.com) When I was stationed (in my army days) in Germany, I drove the super highway commonly known as the German Autobahn a few times. Let’s be honest, there isn’t a highway in this province designed for high speeds. Basically, our provincial highways are glorified gravel and dirt county roads, in comparison to Germany’s Autobahn. This European highway is designed to handle speeds of 300 km/h and over.

Gov’ts at fault
The killing of at least 15 Jewish people with another 40-plus injured on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, is solely on the shoulders of the Australian government. Much like the Canadian federal government for years, they have enabled antisemitism to proliferate and they’ve allowed hatred to manifest itself through pro-Hamas protests that continue to take place today. Is it any wonder why Jewish people in both of our countries continue to be victims of terrorism. If this same kind of tragedy were to occur in Canada, it, too, would be the fault of our federal government.
