FFormer Buccaneer & Cineflix Execs Launch High Road Entertainment
EXCLUSIVE: Former Buccaneer CEO Richard Tulk-Hart and former Cineflix Head of Scripted TV James Durie are taking the High Road. The pair have joined forces to launch High Road Entertainment, a new co-production and sales consultancy for the drama biz.
It is already working on projects including Greek-set crime series Antiparos in partnership with Tanweer Productions and Connor Swindells’ comedy drama Shinjuku Sugar Fox with Just John Films.
Tulk-Hart and Durie are seasoned drama execs. Having been colleagues at Miramax, Tulk-Hart went on to become CEO of Buccaneer and Durie Head of Scripted at Cineflix. In recent years they have worked together on series including So Long, Marianne, The Doll Factory and Whitstable Pearl.
Their exec producer credits variously span shows such as Sunny Nights, The Walsh Sisters and Marcella.
High Road Entertainment will advise scripted producers across Europe on financing and distribution, while also developing its own scripted slate. The entity was originally launched last summer by Tulk-Hart as Volteo Media, per our story at the time. Durie has now joined and will run the rebadged business with Tulk-Hart. The pair are co-CEOs.
‘In this fractured market it really feels like there is space for a flexible dynamic approach to getting shows from IP to screen,” the pair said in a statement. “We’re here to join the dots and have done so on a number of shows already. There is no doubt we are in a difficult period for the industry and what we can do is navigate the key players through every step of the way and make sure a show is given its best chance of making it to screen”.
The High Road execs will be at drama confab Series Mania next week. They are expected to hit Lille with a new show, with details dropping during the week of the event.
