‘SNL UK’ Cold Open: George Fouracres’ Keir Starmer Calls On Olivia Colman & Peppa Pig To Inspire Nation

Saturday Night Live UK cold opened with the British prime minister calling on some friends to deliver a stirring address to the nation.

George Fouracres’s Keir Starmer took to the lectern, flanked by the Union Jack flag, but admitted he’s “not inspiring” as a leader. Reflecting on war in the Middle East entering its second month, Starmer said: “We’re working at pace towards de-escalation, and the pace we are working at is leisurely.”

He called on Olivia Colman (played by Emma Sidi), Peppa Pig (Annabel Marlow), and Harry Kane (Al Nash) to put more of a “pep in your step.”

Colman came on, clutching her Oscar. “Gosh, this is a bit sexy, isn’t it?” Sidi said. “Flirting with Iran and playing with oil. Next thing you know, there’s an energy shortage and the power is off, and we’re snogging in the dark.”

Peppa Pig chimed in with words of wisdom for “Daddy Keir.” “Life is hell, but it doesn’t last long, and soon the sadness will end,” she said.

Riz Ahmed hosted SNL UK‘s third episode live from London, where Sky’s adaptation of NBC’s iconic sketch show is beginning to hit its straps.

SNL UK premiered with 226,000 viewers in its first week, dropping to 205,000 for its second episode. Last week’s Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor cold open has been viewed more than 2M times on YouTube, making it the most-watched sketch to date on the Google-owned platform.
