AFD: Fire extinguished, occupants out safely at east Austin apartment

AUSTIN (KXAN) — All occupants in an east Austin apartment complex “self-evacuated safely” after the Austin Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on Saturday. The fire was also extinguished around 8:15 p.m.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m., AFD said on social media it responded to an apartment fire at 1901 E. Anderson Lane on the service road eastbound.

AFD said crews were “deploying hand lines to attack the fire.” Then, in a 7:40 p.m. update, the agency said the fire was “knocked down” and “contained” to the apartment where it started.

“Crews are working to extinguish hot spots in the walls,” AFD said. “One lane of service road is blocked due to supply hose lines on roadway.”

By 8:15 p.m., AFD said the fire was extinguished, with “no civilian or firefighter injuries.”

No other details were available Saturday.
