APD: 38-year-old man arrested, connected with deadly May hit-and-run


AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with a May hit-and-run that later turned deadly, which happened on North MoPac Expressway, according to the Austin Police Department.

Police identified the man as Agustin Guillen. He was arrested on June 11 and was charged with a collision involving death.

Attorney information was not available for Guillen, as of Thursday. We will update this if that changes.

The crash happened around 11:38 p.m. on May 6 between a vehicle and a motorcycle in the 2900 block of North Mopac Expressway NB, according to police. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the motorcyclist, 47-year-old Shawn Oveisi, with serious injuries.

Oveisi was transported to a local hospital, where he died weeks later on May 19, according to police.

According to APD, the driver of the vehicle left he scene by the time police arrived. The driver was later identified as Guillen.

No other details were available Thursday.
