Ashleigh Banfield To Lead True Crime Vertical For NewsNation, Will Depart Primetime Show
Ashleigh Banfield will lead a true crime digital vertical for NewsNation, with content from her podcast Drop Dead Serious available on the platform.
Banfield, who joined the network in 2021, will depart her nightly show Banfield, but will remain a contributor to the network. She will offer legal analysis on trials, criminal investigations and breaking true crime news. She will anchor her final show next month, with rotating anchors filling the 10 p.m. ET until a permanent successor is announced.
During her tenure Banfield interviewed a key witness in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal trial, as well a fellow prison inmates of Luigi Mangione, accused of murdering a top healthcare executive. She also interviewed Wendy Williams as she was placed in a court-ordered guardianship. Banfield also has devoted extensive airtime to the quadruple murder case in Moscow, ID.
Michael Corn, president of programming and specials for NewsNation, said that the true crime vertical will be “a digital destination for true crime fans while keeping her voice central to our on-air
coverage.”
Banfield said, “The success of true crime reporting on streaming media platforms has been transformative, and I’m looking forward to helping shape and enhance NewsNation’s multi-platform strategy in this genre.”
