Bills get tough injury update on Josh Allen before Broncos playoff game
Josh Allen is about to play one of the biggest games of his life, and he will be entering it not at 100%.
Minutes before taking the field in Denver to begin warming up to take on the AFC top-seeded Broncos in the divisional round, Bills fans were delivered a harrowing injury update on the reigning MVP.
NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe stated that Allen is not in peak condition heading into the game, with the QB battling three ailments, but there will be no limitations on his play from coach Sean McDermott.
Allen was beaten up in the wild card last weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars. On the road, the Bills entered a slugfest with the AFC South champions, eventually taking a final lead in the closing seconds behind a superhuman performance from a hobbled Allen.
There were several times in last weekend’s game where it looked as if Allen might have to leave the game, but he returned every time, even if his throws at times looked off from what you’d expect from the MVP.

Now, Allen and the Bills are given an even more challenging test. The Broncos have one of the strongest defenses in football and will be aiming at the already hamstrung signal caller.
To make matters worse, Allen will have to do it with a fractured wide receiver core that was already struggling to begin with, as Gabe Davis and Tyrell Shavers are both out for the season following injuries sustained against the Jaguars.
Although Allen has never made it to a Super Bowl, his postseason statistics have been striking: throwing 3,632 yards, 26 touchdowns, and only 4 interceptions through 14 games. He’s also added over 700 yards on the ground.
This could be the Bills and Allen’s best chance at making it to the Super Bowl, with archrival Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs watching from home. Other contemporaries to Allen, such as Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow, are also eliminated from Super Bowl contention.
If Allen wins, the Bills will face either the New England Patriots or the Houston Texans on the road for the AFC Championship next Sunday.
