‘Bluey’ Boasts 70B+ Minutes Viewed Since 2024, Leading Disney Jr. Domination In Preschool Programming Alongside ‘Spidey And His Amazing Friends,’ ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’ & More
EXCLUSIVE: With the news that Disney+ has nabbed CoComelon from Netflix, the Mouse House has only further solidified its position as the pre-eminent destination for kids programming. But, it’s the strong performances of Disney Jr. mainstays like Bluey, Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends and SuperKitties that gave it such a reputation in the first place.
Disney Jr. secured the U.S. distribution rights to Bluey in 2019, and it quickly became a hit. The Australian series consistently lands among Nielsen’s Top 5 most-streamed series on a weekly basis and, in 2024, it was the most streamed title in the U.S. of any genre.
Deadline can also exclusively reveal that Bluey has amassed 70B minutes viewed since the start of 2024, which translates to a whopping 133,000 years of watch time.
While Bluey might be top dog in the preschool entertainment space, it is certainly not alone. Since the beginning of the year, Bluey, Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse have emerged as the Top 3 streaming shows in the U.S. for preschoolers. Unsurprisingly, per Disney, they are also the top preschool titles on Disney+ based on lifetime viewing.
“From Bluey to Spidey and his Amazing Friends, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, SuperKitties and beyond, our Disney Jr. content brand delivers trusted, joyful stories with characters that stay with audiences for a lifetime,” Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television, said in a statement to Deadline. “It’s why families continue to turn to Disney+ first — and why we remain the leader in preschool entertainment.”
The Disney Jr. library is chock full of beloved brands that perform well across both Disney+ and YouTube, which remains the dominant streamer in the U.S. In fact, Disney Jr. YouTube boasts over 23M subscribers, landing it in a small club of just 0.001% of YouTube channels.
Per Nielsen, Disney Jr. had four of the Top 10 most-watched series for preschoolers in 2024, and it remained the No. 1 cable network for Kids 2-5 for the third year in a row.
Case in point: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, which ran from 2006 to 2016, has over 5B views on YouTube. In total, the show has over 12B hours watched across linear and streaming since launch.
It’s so popular, in fact, that Disney is bringing it back. The new iteration debuts this summer, and it will even see the clubhouse expand with a brand-new area just for Minnie. Duffy the Disney Bear will also make surprise appearances in multiple episodes.
Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends is another YouTube hit, amassing 2.3B views across Disney Jr. and Marvel HQ YouTube channels. That has also translated directly to its popularity on Disney+, where it has webbed 896M hours globally.
Since premiering in August 2021, Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends is now the No. 2 streaming series for kids and boys ages 2 to 5, per Nielsen. That popularity also extends off screen, as the series ranks in the Top 5 best-selling preschool toy licenses globally.
We also can’t forget about SuperKitties, which was the No. 1 new preschool series across linear and streaming when it premiered in 2023. It kept up the momentum last year, closing out 2024 as a Top 10 most-watched series for preschoolers. Season 2 is currently airing on Disney Jr. and Disney+ with Season 3 slated to debut later this year.
CoComelon is set to move to Disney+ in 2027, just in time for the release of the CoComelon movie by Universal. Coming from an independent animated house, it has a similar pedigree to that of Bluey, making it a fitting new addition to the Disney Jr. lineup. Also like Bluey, Disney is likely to expand the CoComelon brand, adding even more attractions to its preschool programming in the future.
