CMT Music Awards in Austin paused for 2025: report
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The CMT Music Awards might not return to Austin’s Moody Center this year.
Paramount Global is pausing some 2025 events, including the CMT Music Awards, amid a merger with Skydance Media, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter. The announcement, which came from an internal memo, did not say when decisions about the affected events would be made.
“We are pausing a few events for 2025, as we look to reimagine and optimize our events slate going forward. These include the MTV EMAs, MTV MIAWs, Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in Mexico, and CMT Music Awards,” the internal memo read in part.
The awards show moved from Nashville to Austin in 2023 and returned in 2024.
