Construction to close Southbound MoPac exit to Steck Avenue starting Feb. 10
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority will soon close the southbound MoPac Expressway exit to Steck Avenue as construction on the 183 North Project progresses.
The exit will be closed starting Monday, Feb. 10, for about two to three months.
The CTRMA is constructing two tolled lanes and an additional free lane in each direction along U.S. Highway 183 between MoPac and State Highway 45 Northwest.
CTRMA is also reconstructing the connecting ramps at U.S. 183 and MoPac so that drivers will soon have the option to take a toll lane from downtown Austin to Cedar Park.
The authority said detour routes and alternate exits will be available, and on-road signage will be present to help guide drivers.
Other ongoing lane closures will happen as a part of this project, CTRMA noted. Upcoming temporary lane closures can be found on the 183 North Mobility Project website.
The 183 North Project is expected to wrap up in 2026.
