Country Star Lainey Wilson Set For Universal’s ‘Reminders Of Him’

Rising country star Lainey Wilson is set to make her feature film acting debut in Reminders of Him, Universal’s romantic drama adapting the novel from It Ends With Us scribe Colleen Hoover.

No word on the role she’s playing. Lainey joins a cast led by Maika Monroe, which also includes Tyriq Withers, Rudy Pankow, Lauren Graham, Nicholas Duvernay, and Bradley Whitford.

Reminders of Him tells the story of Kenna Rowan (Monroe), a young mother who returns to her hometown after serving five years in prison for a tragic accident. Determined to reunite with her daughter, who is being raised by her late boyfriend’s parents, Kenna faces judgment and resistance from the community but nonetheless fights for redemption, forgiveness and a second chance at love and motherhood.

Vanessa Caswill is directing from a script by Hoover and Lauren Levine, with the latter two producing through their production company, Heartbones Entertainment, alongside Gina Matthews through her Little Engine Productions. Robin Fisichella is executive producing, with Director of Production Development Christine Sun overseeing the project for the studio.

The recipient of a Grammy and six Academy of Country Music Awards — who is expected to clean up at next month’s ACM Awards ceremony — Wilson made her TV acting debut on Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount sensation Yellowstone. She broke out with the single “Things a Man Oughta Know” and comes to Reminders of Him after contributing the song “Out of Oklahoma” to Universal’s 2024 release Twisters.

Variety was first to Wilson’s feature casting.
