Shocking video captured the moment a Delta Air Lines plane’s engine burst into flames shortly after takeoff from Los Angeles International Airport, forcing pilots to turn the plane around.

The Boeing 767 was en route to Atlanta with 226 passengers and 9 crew members on Friday when the left engine malfunctioned mid-air, the airline said, according to KABC.

Flames began to shoot from the engine as the airplane climbed into the air, according to video captured by plane spotter L.A. FLIGHTS.

Delta Flight 446 quickly returned looped around and returned to LAX.

It landed safely and taxied to the gate with no visible fire by the time it reached the terminal.

No injuries were reported, and Delta is currently investigating the incident
