Denzel Washington Officially Joins Black Panther 3, Ryan Coogler Confirms

Good thing, as the Oscar winner has an acting bucket list to check off before retirement, which includes the Black Panther franchise. 

Teasing his Marvel role last year, he added, “After that, I’m gonna do the film Othello, After that, I’m gonna do King Lear. After that, I’m gonna retire.”

And it’s not the MCU that’s drawing him in, but rather Coogler, who has also directed critically acclaimed films Fruitvale Station and Creed. 

“It’s about the filmmaker, especially at this point in my career,” Washington said on Australia’s Today. “I’m only interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many more films I’m gonna make, probably not that many. I want to do things that I haven’t done.”
