Dia Bell, Texas Longhorns 2026 quarterback recruit, wins MVP at Elite 11

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 2026 Texas Longhorns recruit is now part of an exclusive club with the likes of Caleb Williams, C.J. Stroud, Tua Tagovailoa, Mark Sanchez and Matthew Stafford.

Dia Bell, a 5-star quarterback at American Heritage High School in Florida, who committed to Texas in June 2024, was named the MVP of the Elite 11 camp Thursday at Mira Costa High School in Los Angeles. The Elite 11 camp started in 1999 and is considered the most prestigious camp and competition for quarterbacks in the country.

Winning the MVP doesn’t necessarily guarantee future success, but it’s a very high honor considering who has emerged from the event. Jayden Daniels, Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence, Aaron Rodgers and Bryce Young are just a few of the NFL quarterbacks who competed there.

Bell is the first Texas recruit to win MVP honors, but former Longhorns Chance Mock, Vince Young, Garrett Gilbert, Jerrod Heard, Shane Buechele, Sam Ehlinger, Hudson Card, Maalik Murphy and Quinn Ewers competed at the camp. Longhorns freshman KJ Lacey was part of last year’s camp.

According to 247Sports, Bell is the No. 5 quarterback in the country and No. 3 overall player in Florida for the 2026 class. He’s the son of former NBA player Raja Bell.
