Dylan Cease signing with Blue Jays in $210 million splash

Dylan Cease has a new home.

The veteran right-hander signed a seven-year, $210 million contract with the Blue Jays on Wednesday, according to The Post’s Jon Heyman.

The deal makes Cease, who turns 30 next month, the first major free agent pitcher off the board this offseason.

Cease is coming off a so-so 2025 season, but has shown flashes in the past of being one of the top starting pitchers in the sport.

In 32 starts, Cease posted a 4.55 ERA, although he struck out an MLB-best 11.5 batters per nine innings.

Before the July trade deadline, the Padres reportedly shopped the pending free agent around, but opted to hang onto him for the stretch run.

Cease has twice finished in the top-five in the Cy Young voting, including a dominant 2022 season during which he posted a 2.20 ERA for the White Sox.

The move bolsters a Toronto starting rotation that’s coming off a World Series run.

The Cease addition likely spells the departure of starters Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer, who are both also free agents this winter.
