East Austin gets new pool ahead of summer

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A new spot to cool off officially opened in east Austin Saturday morning after two years of construction.

Austin Parks and Recreation held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Colony Park Pool, which is located at 7400 Loyola Lane.

Pool-goers can now enjoy a lap pool, water slide, spray features, diving board, and, as part of Austin’s Art in Public Places program, the pool will also get a permanent art installation.

“While it will primarily serve the Colony Park and Lakeside communities, the pool will draw visitors from around the city and will be open year-round with no entrance fee,” the city said.

Swim lessons will also be offered on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Colony Park Pool began construction in May 2023, and it was completed in March 2025. The project was funded through the 2018 GO Bond, according to the city.
