Free events during 2025 SXSW conference
AUSTIN (KXAN) — While South by Southwest (SXSW) passes can be out of reach for most Austinites, the conference will have a few free events between March 8-15.
Whether it’s focused on a film experience, technology, art or about space, SXSW has Austinites covered.
Radio Day Stage
Radio Day Stage happens from noon-5 p.m., March 10-15 at Rivian Park, 409 E. Fifth St.
This event features lineups from “some of the most influential and interesting radio outlets on the planet,” according to SXSW.
The lineup features Ale Cohen & Anna Chang (KCRW) DJ set, Oreglo, Emmeline, Honeyglaze, terraplana (DJ set), Wishy and more.

International Nights
International Nights happens from 7 p.m.-11 p.m., March 10-15 at Rivian Park at Brush Square Park, 409 E. Fifth St.
This lineup includes artists coming from around the globe from Spain, Czechia, Japan, India and more, according to SXSW.
Some of those artists include Flor, Aiko, Teo Glacier, Sam Ryder and more.

EQ Austin Presents
EQ Austin Presents happens from March 12-15 at Lefty’s Brick Bar, 1813 E. Sixth. Local nonprofit EQ Austin partnered with SXSW for four nights to showcase talent with KUTX The Breaks, EQ Austin, LatinATX and Global Primestage shows.

Sleepy Cat Records
Sleepy Cat Records happens from 7 p.m.-midnight, March 14, at various bars. You can access that list here.
Artists included in this event are T.Gold, Lonnie Walker, Skylar Gudasz, Blue Cactus, Little Mazarn and SunSp.t, according to SXSW.
Austin Industry Day
Austin Industry Day happens from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., March 12 at the Austin Convention Center.
“Mindfully curated, SXSW spends the year searching for brands, services and products that will take attendees into the 22nd century and beyond. Hundreds of exhibitors from across the globe meet under one roof to ignite passions, collaborate and share groundbreaking discoveries,” SXSW said on its website.
The event brings entertainment, health and wellness, design and more.
Flatstock
Flatstock happens from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., March 11-13, at the Austin Convention Center.
Flatstock has concert posters, stickers and also “provides an ongoing series of opportunities to see fine poster art in person and to the meet the artists who created it,” according to SXSW.

NASA House: CreateSpace
NASA House: CreateSpace happens from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., March 8, at the Austin Public Library.
This cosmic event “transforms Austin’s Central Library into an immersive experience where visitors don’t just learn about space – they help shape it,” SXSW said on its website.

Museum of the Future
Museum of the Future happens March 7-March 11.
The museum takes you “on a journey through space and time,” according to SXSW.
“Together, we’ll explore how Dubai’s iconic museum is combining art, technology, and immersive storytelling to awe and inspire all who enter,” SXSW said on its website.

The Texas Film Experience
The Texas Film Experience happens from noon-3 p.m., March 12, on the South Lawn of the Texas Capitol.
“This live demonstration takes you through every stage of creating a film, showcasing how Texas’ entertainment industry drives economic growth and job creation,” SXSW said on its website.

Whataburger Museum of Art
The Whataburger Museum of Art happens from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., at Wanderlust Wine Co.- Downtown.
“Explore fan-created art, including pieces in mural, abstract and pop culture styles, enjoy interactive installations like the Day Dot Room and Table Tent Mugshot Wall and indulge in samples of Whataburger’s latest limited-time offer, the Monterey Melt!” SXSW said on its website.
