‘Good Cop/Bad Cop’s Luke Cook Announces CW Show’s Cancelation: “It’s A Tough Business”

The CW has officially closed the case on Good Cop/Bad Cop after one season, despite recent talks of a potential renewal.

In a TikTok posted on Friday, star Luke Cook announced that the John Quaintance-created comedy procedural will not be renewed for a sophomore season, following its eight-episode run last year. Deadline has reached out to The CW.

“Sad to let you know this but we will not be doing a Season 2 of Good Cop/Bad Cop,” he said in the video. “I loved making that show, I loved making friends with everybody on that cast and crew, and John, who wrote the show. They’re all my great friends, so I’m sad we won’t get to do it again. But thank you to everyone who watched the show, like thank you.

“People who were like, ‘Oh, there’s Luke, I’m going to watch him in that show.’ It’s very kind, and I’m glad you loved it. Everyone wrote to me and said they loved it, and I’m so glad that you did. I’m sorry that it didn’t work out and we won’t be doing more of it. But it’s a tough business. Hollywood has the ability to make your dreams come true and also break your heart. Onwards and upwards. Thanks for the support,” added Cook.

In Good Cop/Bad Cop, Cook and Leighton Meester play an estranged brother and sister, Henry and Lou, who have to sort through their differences after becoming partners in their small Pacific Northwest police force, which is run by their chief-of-police father Big Hank Hickman (Clancy Brown).

As the series inked a Prime Video streaming deal last July, Quaintance told Deadline of a potential second season, “We’re still trying to make that happen.”
