HAAM's band battle eyes $300K fundraising goal
AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin nonprofit is celebrating 20 years of providing healthcare services to local musicians. And on Wednesday evening, one of its flagship fundraisers is taking place downtown.
The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) is holding its annual Corporate Battle of the Bands at ACL Live at the Moody Theater.
“The tremendous response from the business community for Corporate Battle of the Bands shows the passion for making music extends beyond Austin’s live music scene and goes into the boardrooms of some of Austin’s most successful companies,” said board member Tim Taylor. “We thank these business leaders for their support of musicians’ health.”
During the 2024 event, HAAM said more than 1,000 people supported nine bands from local businesses who performed during the evening. The event raised $275,000, which translates to roughly $2 million in healthcare for musicians, according to Chief Development Officer Christopher Alberts.
This year’s goal is to raise $300,000, the organization said.
Along with the evening’s performances, there will also be a silent auction filled with exclusive local music experiences, travel packages, music memorabilia and many other amazing items, Alberts said.
Cirrus Logic, ABC Home and Commercial Services, Ascension Seton, H-E-B, PNC Bank and Ouro will be the businesses participating in the competition.
The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the live music begins at 7 p.m. It’s happening at ACL Live at the Moody Theater, 310 W Willie Nelson Blvd. in downtown Austin.
