Japanese Series ‘Meet Me There’ Set For Singapore Adaptation
Singapore’s CNA has adapted the Japanese unscripted series Meet Me There.
Originally produced and broadcast by Nippon TV in Japan, Meet Me There is described as a “touching docu-reality format.” The show begins with a handwritten note containing just three words, “Meet me there.” Without any clues, the recipient of the note must find the mysterious location where the sender is waiting.
The format synopsis reads: As both recipient and sender retrace their shared history — with the recipient visiting places where friendships could have been built or marriage proposals made — memories resurface, and emotions run high. Each wrong turn is bittersweet, making the eventual reunion even more moving and meaningful.
The Singapore edition will run for three episodes, set to debut on March 21.
“From our very first conversations with CNA, we knew they were the perfect partner to adapt Meet Me There,” Raku Iizuka, Format Sales, Nippon TV, said in a statement.
“They have been an incredible, long-standing partner since Singapore’s version of ‘Old Enough! was developed by Mediacorp, and we are truly delighted to expand our successful relationship with this wonderful new format.”
Iizuka added: “The universal emotions of love, timing, and destiny make this story perfect for adaptation, and I am confident that the Singaporean version will touch viewers’ hearts and even help remind them of their precious relationships.”
