Jonas Brothers To Celebrate 20th Anniversary With Free Fan Event & Performance In New Jersey
The Jonas Brothers will mark their 20th anniversary with a free one-day fan event – they’re calling it JonasCon – at New Jersey’s American Dream shopping mall, a wink to their early, pre-fame days playing malls.
Set for March 23, JonasCon, announced on the group’s website, will include a live performance, Q&A panels, games, trivia, interactive installations and a to-be-announced keynote event. Special guests will be announced later.
The American Dream mall is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey (Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas are New Jersey natives).
“To us, it feels like just yesterday we were loading up our family mini-van with a couple of guitars and copies of It’s About Time CDs, en route to an afternoon performance at a local mall to play for anyone who would listen,” the group wrote in a long letter posted on their Instagram page. The letter, two days before today’s JonasCon announcement, promises “a year of music,” including group and solo recordings, a live concert album, a holiday movie and a soundtrack.
The letter also mentions Nick Jonas’ upcoming costarring role, with Adrienne Warren, in the new Broadway musical The Last Five Years, with previews beginning at the Hudson Theatre on March 18, opening date on April 6 and running through June 22.
In addition to the main American Dream mall event on March 23, additional Jonas-themed events will take place in New York City on March 22. Details to be announced, and tickets will be available exclusively on a first-come, first-served basis for registered JonasCon attendees.
The band also released a thank-you video filled with video clips of the brothers throughout the last 20 years. Watch it below, and read the Instagram letter, also below.
