Lea Michele Offers Proof She Can Read to Shut Down Longstanding Rumor

Don’t tell Lea Michele not to read—she’s simply got to.

Mostly because she actually can. As part of the now years-long ongoing rumor that the Glee star doesn’t know how to read, Lea proved everybody wrong by cold reading notecards during a recent podcast appearance.

Grabbing the notecards written for the “Tell Me What’s Wrong” section of Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast, Lea quipped that her pal Jonathan Groff wasn’t around to “read me this s–t” before reading aloud from the card. (Perfectly, we might add.)

“’I placed first in my debate competition and qualified for nationals,’” she began in the May 8 episode, before leaning over to Jake, jokingly adding, “What does this word say?”

But despite the perfect performance, the 38-year-old knows it might not have been enough for her skeptics.

“Oh my god,” Lea continued, “the theories are going to be like, ‘Jake called her in advance. This doesn’t prove anything, She memorized it she saw the cards in advance.’”
