Make Music Day returns to Wimberley for free, family-friendly performances

AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Saturday, the city of Wimberley said it would join more than 2,000 cities worldwide to celebrate Make Music Day.

The free, all-day music festival is hosted annually on the summer solstice.

Nearly 20 artists are expected to perform across 10 locations from 10 a.m. until late evening.

“Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers,” organizers said.

The event is inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique, according to organizers.

Wimberley’s Make Music Day events are all free, family-friendly and open to the public.
