Police look for suspect in shooting at east Austin apartment complex

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Following a shooting outside an east Austin apartment complex in October, the Austin Police Department is asking for help identifying a suspect.

The shooting happened Oct. 27 around 5:30 p.m. at the Reserve at Springdale Apartments.

Police said a victim was sitting in their car at the complex when a silver Dodge Challenger drove by. A person left the Challenger and opened fire at the victim using an assault-style rifle.

APD said the victim was not injured, but bullets hit three parked cars.

Police said the shooter left the scene and was last wearing a ski mask and had shoulder-length dreads. He was described as a Black man.

“Detectives have exhausted all other leads in attempts to identify the suspect, and are now asking for help from the community,” police said.

People with information can call APD’s aggravated assault unit at 512-974-4940. Information can also be sent anonymously to Capital Area Crime Stoppers at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.
