PropNex unit, agent sued by Hao Mart over Orchard Road lease for over S$3.5 million

[SINGAPORE] Supermarket chain Hao Mart has filed a lawsuit against a wholly owned unit of mainboard-listed PropNex and one of its agent, alleging misrepresentation in the leasing of the Orchard Road premises.

The claimant, in its statement of claims filed on Aug 29, alleged that Michael Tan Ban Aik, an agent with PropNex Realty, had misrepresented to Hao Mart director Dr Tan Kim Yong that the middleman would undertake fiduciary duties to the supermarket operator for the leasing of the former OG Orchard Point building.

This case came around Hao Mart’s lease was terminated by landlord OG just slightly over 18 months into a 7½-year lease.
