Severe storms affecting high school graduation ceremonies in Central Texas
BURNET, Texas (KXAN) — Severe weather moving across Central Texas has affected some graduation ceremonies.
Burnet High School (Burnet CISD)
The graduation ceremony at Burnet High School Thursday evening has been moved indoors due to the risk of severe weather in the area. In a post on the school’s Facebook page, administrators said the ceremony would move to the school’s gymnasium “for the safety of our graduates, staff and guests.”
Doors will open at 7:45 p.m., and the ceremony will begin at 8:30 p.m.
The school said each graduate was provided five rain tickets for guest seating in the gymnasium. Overflow seating is also available in the cafeteria, where a livestream of the ceremony will be available. Additional overflow seating is available in the auditorium.
You can also watch the graduation ceremony live online here.
Cedar Creek High School (Bastrop ISD)
Cedar Creek High School is also affected by the weather. Administrators there have delayed the graduation ceremony by 30 minutes due to lightning in the area.
Anyone currently at the stadium should seek shelter in their vehicle, the district said.
