Silver Alert issued for 70-year-old last seen in central Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department is seeking public help to find a 70-year-old man who was last seen in central Austin Friday. The department said a Silver Alert and reverse 911 call was in progress.

A reverse 911 call is where residents within the area are notified by emergency services, which is not a typical 911 call where residents contact emergency services.

APD said in a news release that Charles Austin Booker was last seen in the area of Red River Street and Dean Keeton Street around 4:30 p.m. after he was exiting a CapMetro bus.

Booker was described by police as a Black man, 6 feet 2 inches, has a thin build and was last seen wearing a red sweat shirt, dark sweat pants and white Adidas shoes.

It was not immediately clear where Booker went or who he was with, police said.

Anyone who may know of Booker’s whereabouts are asked to call APD’s missing person unit at 512-974-5250.
