Sober festival planned during SXSW to benefit SIMS Foundation, Recovery ATX
AUSTIN (KXAN) — A spring festival showcasing live music and interactive art is set to benefit two local foundations dedicated to substance abuse recovery.
The third annual “Sober X South East Recovery Takeover” is scheduled for Sunday, March 16 at Empire Control Room & Garage. All proceeds from the festival will benefit the SIMS Foundation and Recovery ATX.
The event provides an inclusive, alcohol-free, and drug-free space while featuring artists and musicians from local and national recovery communities.
According to its website, the event’s goal is to “create an inclusive alcohol and drug-free experience during March festival week for people who are in recovery, sober curious, allies, friends, and more,” and to “reshape the entertainment industry’s approach to recovery and inclusivity.”
Acts will be featured across three stages at the Empire Control Room. Doors open at 3 p.m. and the event runs from 4-9 p.m.
