Stuver, Vazquez named to MLS all-star team, take on LigaMX all-stars at Q2 Stadium

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin FC goalkeeper Brad Stuver has played like an all-star for the past couple of seasons, and now he’s finally officially one.

Stuver, along with forward Brandon Vazquez and head coach Nico Estévez, will represent Austin FC in the 2025 Major League Soccer all-star game July 23 at Q2 Stadium. The MLS all-star squad will play the LigaMX all-stars at 8 p.m. on AppleTV’s MLS Season Pass.

Estévez and his staff will coach the MLS club against LigaMX’s finest as the host team. Estévez picked 12 players in collaboration with the league, a fan vote decided 12 others, while MLS commissioner Don Garber picked two players.

Stuver has led the league in saves the past two seasons, and he’s on his way to another big year in 2025. He’s currently fifth in MLS with 63 saves and tied for fourth with seven shutouts. He’s four saves behind the league leader, Atlanta’s Brad Guzan, and one shutout off the lead pace held by three others.

Vazquez has scored eight goals across all competitions in his first year with the club following a transfer from LigaMX’s CF Monterrey worth $10 million, a club record at the time.

VERDE LIGHTS: It’s back for another season! Tune in at 11 a.m. Saturdays on CW Austin and KXAN throughout the season.

Five goals have come in MLS play, including one against the New York Red Bulls on June 14 to help lift Verde and Black to a 2-1 win.

This is Vazquez’s second all-star selection and Stuver’s first. Sebastian Driussi was the franchise’s first all-star selection in 2022, followed by Jon Gallagher in 2023.

With MLS bringing its summer showcase to Austin, it’s the first time the city has hosted an all-star game from a major professional league. It’s the first MLS all-star game in Texas since 2010.
