Texas baseball lands Big East player of the year in transfer portal

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Jim Schlossnagle is rebuilding the Texas Longhorns through the transfer portal, and he grabbed one of the best available outfielders Wednesday.

Aiden Robbins, an outfielder from Seton Hall in the Big East Conference, has committed to Texas. He has two years of eligibility remaining, and if he can replicate the kind of year he had this season in the Southeastern Conference, he’ll fit right in.

Robbins amassed a .537 on-base percentage and slugged .652 for the Pirates in 2025, swiping 20 bags with 19 doubles, five triples and six home runs. He hit .422 with 38 RBIs, but perhaps most impressively, he drew 44 walks and struck out just 32 times in 204 at-bats. He played error-free defense with 99 putouts and three assists in 102 total chances.

Robbins was named the Big East player of the year and was a second-team All-East Region selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Robbins is the fifth player the Longhorns have added through the transfer portal following their early exit from the NCAA tournament.
